Hello guys & girls
Iv got that repeating urge to spend money this time on new gaming system.

Im currently setting myself a budget of 1250-1750 for a pc thats going to last me a year & drive my 30" dell. The Budget Covers mobo, cpu, memory gfx and maybe a PSU, other components i already have. However i am not looking to spend money for the sake of it, which is why i refuse to buy top level cpu's.

If i bought the PC today
The PC would be SLi 8800 GTX and use a mid range CPU 6600 Duo or Quad, probably the duo atm, which would then be overclocked either on water or phase.

Im looking to build now due to new games such as Stalker being released, currentlyi am playing most games on my laptop, which is reasonable spec but isnt going to handle Stalker from what i hear. I do have a Dual Operton 275HE rig with a 7800GTX in that i can make do with for a while. Is my mest bet to go and buy this or wait for ATi & AMD to release there new gfx/processors.

I know there is something always round the next corner, but it seems to me i have left it pretty late to buy into this generation of hardware, specifically the 8800GTX for such a fast moving market. CPU i am less worried about as i want a relaible motherboard, something that doesnt seem to happen for the first 3 months of a new CPU launch.

Im no expert, but from what I have read here and elsewhere the AMD chips arent going to compare with the Intel's so going to a C2D is probably the best choice, and with the overclocking potential here your on to a winner. Just check in the overclocking threads and see what some people have been doing.

The 8800 series is going to be fine for a while yet. True, there are better options coming out in the future, but a 8800GTX 756mb graphics cards not going to suck for a long time. I have also read reviews about ATi's R600, and some havent been all that impressive, so going with the 8800 isnt going to make you feel inadequate anyway.

You could always buy a 8800 now, and not blow your budget, and then when you feel the urge at the end of the year, or this time next buy a better card, but with the ever changing market, and the speed its going at, your never going to have the top end card out for very long anyway.

Ive heard about the intel price cuts but to be honest i cant see any more than a £10 cut from etailers on core 2 for at least 3 months.
