Just wondering whether this was a good time of year to get a new pc i.e are any main components about to suddenly go down in price or is it going to be standard prices for a while.

Also how well do you predict a 8800GTS 640MB will handle games like crysis and bioshock (with 2gb ram & 6600). i dont really want to but would you recommend waiting a few more months (which i have been doing for about 2 years). :)

thanks for the help

I built a new rig this week, my reasons:

- Old PC having hardware problems
- Processor and Memory prices have come down
- I wanted a new toy :D

I've just come back to computing and looking at building a new PC.

I've not been following prices for ages, but from when I built my last one, years ago, to what spec I can build now for the same price, prices seem really good!!

Now is a great time to grab some stuff... the prices for RAM are very good right now... and Intel CPU prices have just crashed as well. I'm speculating that the 8800 series cards may fall as well once the R600 card's hit the market?

would you recommend 520W or 620w to future proof it a bit more?

Right now 520w is sufficient for now... if we're talking about the Corsair HX power-supplies I'd pay the extra £15 or so and get the 620w unless your on a budget.
