Heya peeps and peepettes (o0)

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but been reading the specific subforums and to be hoenst my brain is starting to ache ;)

Basically, I'm wondering if now is a good time to upgrade - you lot must be sick of these heh..

Basically my comp is pretty much steam powered by todays standards, but it's still hanging in there just about.

Current Specs:

Enermax Coolergiant (480W) - Hoping this should be ok
AMD Athlon 3200+ XP
Abit nforce 2 mobo - the one with the dolby digital encoding built in
1024mb (2x512mb) corsair Twinned RAM
120gb HDD
Asus 9800XT - Still has a bit of oomph but starting to get slowdown.
Samsung DVD reader.

Now I was thinking of grabbing a ready built cheap PC to tide me over, but realise they didn't include VAT, so when I went to the checkout, it dawned on me that I could upgrade my PC for a little more and to a much better spec.

I was thinking of:

Intel C2D E8200 - seems pretty good value
500gb WD HDD
512mb XFX 8800GT
4gb (2x2gb) Corsair TwinX (1066)
*EDIT* Ofcourse Vista 64bit Home premium (OEM) */EDIT*

Used to go for Nforce based mobo's but heard that the latest ones are a bit, well, naff. So not sure what mobo to go with.

Also is it worth holding on for a bit till the new cards coming out, and hope for a price drop?

Mainly a gamer, although do work (photography and web design) on it..

And currently use a 32" LCD TV at 1360x780 I think, rough budget of about £500.

Ohh also heard there's a new CPU architecture coming out later in the year, is this worth holding on for in your opinion?

Thanks a lot for any info (totally confused, was a lot easier to build systems years ago, when there were single core CPUs, single GPUs and DDR RAM was a glint in an engineers eye ;D)

Yes, and the new cards from ati might be suitable for you as well.
No, not for a £500 budget I don't think.
