After being a long time PC user,i feel i want to try to be a mac user,a work mate has one and just loves it.Is this a good time to buy a iMac or is the new updated version just around the corner?? Or just go to Bluewater tomorro and part with some £££

There's always going to be an update around the corner so if you want one I say just go for it! That said, the much-rumoured Penryn update is meant to be soon so it depends if you want to wait for that. It will not be a very noticable jump like to Montevina though. So it's up to you if it's worth waiting for.:)

No idea, obviously it depends on what you want to use the iMac for, I went for the 24" 2.4 iMac and havn't regretted it!

I've recently added 4GB of RAM to it now to and it's really quick!

Sometimes I get the "twirly circle" (which I believed is caused by CPU maxed out, could be wrong) but that's only after i go about editing massively large images and trying to save around 40 of them at once :p So for me the extra .4 was worth it :)

The correct name is: "The Spinning Beach Ball of Death" :)

Oh and it is caused by the process queue getting to 100% and this is often caused by software hogging all the processes. The shouldn't be able to do this as the UNIX Kernel is quite good at managing processes. Funnily enough it happens to be Apple apps that do this. Grrr, I am looking at you iTunes.

Have you got the iStat Dashboard Widget installed? You can see what app is hogging the CPU process queue.
