Good time to get a PS3?

Surely something amiss now, even the main high street retailer has removed PS3 consoles off the site rather than saying "temporarily out of stock".
 
I just bought one, was looking to buy but waiting for a deal i thought was good. £250 for a 40Gb with DS3 and HDMI cable inc, along with stardust, commando game, DD1 and rtype.

Seemed pretty good to me. Mainly I wanted to avoid any non-rumbling controllers.

I'd love a new model with BC, unfortunately I can't see it happening anytime soon, especially as they are planning to release a new model PS2. Theres still plenty of PS2 milking left to do I guess :(
 
Not on the PS3's currently available over here I don't think. Unless something has changed since the last time I looked into getting one which was December last year. I opted for a Nintendo Wii instead, cos I already have a 360.

Well Sony have said that they have stopped manufacturing SIXAXIS controllers so once they have all sold out I expect we will have a DS3 bundle in the near future.

Got one a week or two ago to complete my console collection, I wish I'd bought one sooner because it's a fantastic machine. Definately worth it alone for Blu-ray but I must say if like me you've already got a 360 with all the top games, the PS3's catalogue doesn't have much to offer for now anyway.

If you get one buy and play through Uncharted straight away, it's easily one of the best games I've played this generation.
 
well i took the plunge last night, £400 for 40GB model, GTA4, DMC4, Buzz, I am Legend BluRay, HDMI cable and 3 years extended warranty

you can bet that a new SKU will be released within the week......
 
Sorry to hijack thread but instead of opening a new thread hope you dont mind if I ask in here:

I was thinking if I get one (would have to be the 40gb model due to money) I also still have a ps2 and hardly play it so not bothered that much about being able to play ps2 games on it, (BC). Be nice but money is money.

I bought a PS2 just for Vice city years ago and GTA4 really sounds good ? If I got that and MGS4 do you think that would do me for a while ?

As I think I can download some demo's anyhow yes ?
 
It will have to be the 40gb model anyway as the 60gb model was discontinued months ago. :p

GTA and MGS would do you for a while I would have thought, and there are decent games to go back to as well.
 
I was planning to get one at Christmas last year but the bundles they had going at the time were garbage (games like Kane and Lynch and movie tie-ins) and couldn't be bothered wasting more money on extra or different games as I had a holiday I needed to save for in January so I bought a Nintendo Wii instead. I already have a 360 but I may end up getting a PS3 when I have the money. Last time I looked the PS3 didn't have much going for it in terms of exlusive titles and I've never been a big MGS fan so that doesn't really appeal to me that much.
