Good toaster for crumpets?

I've not had a toaster for over a decade. But I have rediscovered my love of crumpets and I'm ****ed off with having to use the grill in the oven. So I need to buy a toaster. But which one?

Literally any one will do. Just make sure it has a lift up function so you can get your crumpets out easily or you end up doing what I had to do, and that's try and launch the ******** out the top and catch them. (Stupid Mrs didn't get a toaster with the lift up function :/)

I just use the grill personally -_-

Tesco Value do two and four slot for about a fiver I think.

Seriously any one will do. I just unplug it and stab a knife into the side of the toast if its not a push up.

Buy cheap toaster, invest savings in crumpet rings. Make your own crumpets that are 100x better than supermarket rubbery ones.

Never unplugged a toaster to do it but I like to live dangerously, spearing crumpets out of a plugged in toaster

I actually find crumpets toasted under the grill substantially nicer than ones done in the toaster.
As you have control over the heat of the grill you can get the heat throughout the crumpet before the outside goes too crispy.

I always use the grill for my crumpets, but that's becuase I like them over-cooked and very crispy. I've been told that isn't the normal way to have them.

You need to double butter them - the first buttering should melt and fill in all the holes and then you can lay another thick slab on top that doesn't melt as much :cool:

Or you know spend some money and get one which works, so you don't have to stab it, and actually toasts all the bread, rather than leaving 1/3rd out of the toaster as it doesn't fit.

So very few toasters are actually fit for purpose.
We had a thread before and there were several people with toasters fot for purpose, so have a look for that.
