Good two player games

Can anyone advise me on good games that can be played two player? ie I have just built a reasonable spec second computer, 955 be and gtx 260, and fancy playing some good lan/internet games with the gf and mates when they come past.

They don't have to be co-operative just games that benefit from the two people in the same room, ie tactics etc

I think it depends on the type of games you and your friends like to play.

For shooters, there's Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands, Rainbow Six Vegas or the older Raven shield, Serious Sam 1 or 2, Killing Floor, Alien Swarm is fairly good as a top down shooter and also free.

For driving there's Flatout 2, Trackmania, GRID or DIRT although these are mainly all competitive because they're racing games.

Titan Quest is also good co-op fun if you like Diablo style games. Otherwise you could get a SNES emulator and run those games.

My friends and I have and still are playing most of the games listed above, we mainly play shooters hence the larger list of them. Left 4 Dead 2 is great fun, tactical too :)

Yeh i didn't want to pigeon hole my thread so I would get a variety of games suggested just like you did! Never thought of L4D2 all though it is extremely obvious lol! Cheers for your input :)
