Does anybody here know a pretty cheap yet very quiet SFX power supply? It's for a potential tiny htpc that I'm planning on building soon. I'm aiming for as quiet as a typical normal size corsair psu really if possible.

I've had a quick look at the prices and they seem quite high for this smaller size :(

Any help very appreciated!

Unfortunately when you go smaller with pc components the price seems to go up. For a decent SFX psu you are limited to the likes of the Silverstone SFX units. The best ones by far are the gold rated versions (SST-ST45-SF-G and SST-SX600-G) but they start at £79.99. They seem awfully overpriced for what they are. Personally I wouldnt touch the cheaper FSP built units as they have had quite poor reviews and suffer from poor voltage regulation.

Many users often overestimate their power requirements, so depending on what you want to build, a relatively affordable 300W SFX may suffice. Our ST30SF is among the quietest PSU around with a semi-fanless mode.
