Good web space host

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this so feel free to move it if you see fit.

I have a domain name (www.dunmanifestin.co.uk) and my web space account with my previous supplier (topclasshost) has just run out so I'm looking for another supplier.

It definitely needs SSH support as well as the usual bangs and whistles but what I'm really after is one that will allow me to install my own software. I wanted to install Subversion onto the server that hosted my previous webspace but topclasshost wouldn't let me do it.

Any suggestions?

Vidahost is the best in my opinion. Tsohost is also highly rated.

Dirt cheap, great service, more stuff than most people need including sql servers and asp.net.
Only thing is it is based in America which some people don't like due to the higher ping. But I don't see how that makes any difference at all.

Like the others have said check OCHostReview. The top 3 have been there over a long period and have good feedback on these forums. Personally my hosting is with Vida, but TSO and Reg1 also have good testimonials.

Have used them for many years and not had a problem.

Using Vidahost to host my Folding signature system (click sig). Brilliant customer support and good value too.

always used Surpass - incredibly cheap, more space and bandwidth than you'll ever need, and i've never had server problems
