Well I've decided to sell my 18.4" screen laptop and get a proper system. I will be using the system for music production, some decoding, general web browsing and playing the odd game now and again (COD4, COD5, L4D)

I've got about £600 to play with and have come up with this system at the moment:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3 Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX Dual Channel (TWIN2X4096-6400C5)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3500418AS)
LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Coolermaster Elite 335 Case - Black (No PSU)
Coolermaster Real Power 620w Modular Power Supply
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4850 "XXX Edition" 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI

This all comes to £606.11 (including shipping)

Will this system be ok or any other suggestions?

Cheers :)

Oh sorry forgot to state that I've already got a 23" Samsung 1080p LCD Monitor.

Kennysevenfold, what is AMD like these days then?

well in my personel opinion and from experience pretty good for the price, and that extra core will come in handy for your music and decoding uses, with the cooler provided theres no reason you couldnt clock it to around the 3.1/2GHz mark to get the full potential out of the system mate :)

Yeh the AMD Tri-core 720 is a pretty good performer, I would probably go with that.
Plus it will be better in the long run in terms of upgrades, because of AM3.

Nice spec Kenny.
