Goodbye N64 collection

Yesterday I decided to finally say goodbye to my N64 collection and list it all on ebay. Mint boxed classics such as Banjo Tooie, Majoras Mask, Donkey Kong 64 and other will be saying goodbye. I've reached a point where I fail to see why I'm keeping it all as they are constantly re-making games and eventually they'll be worth nothing.

But anyway, since listing them I've had loads of messages from people asking if I offer international postage (which I don't as I've never considered it to be honest). However, I'm getting the feeling that if I did offer it there's a possibility there might be more interest. So having never posted internationally, my questions are:

  • How much should I be charging to post a boxed N64 game to places like Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Italy (these are countries from which people have enquired).
  • What service should I use at the post office
  • Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

I figured people in here will have done similar things in the past.

Cheers!

:( it seems really sad to wave good bye to the n64 thought boxed mint Banjo Tooie should fetch a fair bit. What other games are you putting up? (just out of interest)

All I know about posting to Europe is make sure you get insurance to cover your self and doing decent packaging for the boxes is a must.

Well i've kept them and kept them and kept them, but like i said i've reached a point where I just don't know why as I won't play them again and most of the the ones i really like have been re-made. Search for seller stebrown252 for info.

I was going to use jiffy bags but im debating if this is the way to go for N64 boxes :/

ebay link ? :P

and i couldnt get rid of mine, i aint played it for a bout 4 years , but carnt see the piont, and i have a N64 docotor for it :D

About a fiver should comfortably cover European postage, send it Airmail and make sure you get proof of postage (you will be covered up to £46). I'd send N64 games in a rigid box to stop the game box getting damaged though.

- Don't use Jiffy Bags if the boxes are undamaged. If you don't want to buy your own from Staples and the like, see if anyone you know has some spare boxes, or grab some cardboard from any store at the end of the day and construct your own.

- At the Post Office, always be sure to get Recorded Delivery if you're delivering something which can be defined as a parcel (as opposed to a packet). It'll be a bit extra, but the insurance and sorting any problems out is well worth it. Just think of it as a safeguard against wasted time for if one of your buyers complains your item never shows up, and you have no idea what could have gone wrong.

- It does seem a bit elitist, but try not to sell to people with less than 90% or so positive feedback: remember that eBay feedback is not mandatory, so anyone with negative feedback must have done something to aggravate or disappoint rather than a simple accident or neutral practice.

Good luck with the Banjo Tooie and MM though, they'll sell for quite a bit.

im in the same boat im getting rid of my full retro collection tonight, snes, megadrive, n64, saturn and gamecube all made the cut as my mame cab is coming downstairs and the back bedroom is being converted into a nursery

main thing im happy about is i only purchased a few things off ebay most was from car boots so i should atleast get all my money back

good luck with your tooie i never did have the determination to pay for anything of that cost so most of mine are cheaper titles

had to keep the dreamcast and ps2 though couldnt get rid of them as they supply my cab for the lightgun games

Its a shame to see fellow collectors give in, but shame on you for not using the MM first

I sense I'll be lurking the bay over the coming weeks.

ive avoided the MM as all my collection was played on by myself, my wife and our 3 year old and i know how so many on the MM want items immaculate and my 3 yr old doesnt understand that.... also im quite impatient so all my items are on ebay with a 1 day listing - once i decide i want to get rid of somthing i want it gone asap

MM and OOT should pull in a fair few quid between em if they are fully boxed with manuals etc. :)

I think he did....
I remember an N64 being on sale with Banjo Tooie

Just gotten back from watching the football and had a look at the listings. Your Banjo Tooie should make a decent return! (its already past what I payed for the cart on an one day listing)

You really have to send the games out in other boxes though, there's no other way to keep them in mint condition. I got mystical ninja 2 and sin & punishment off the MM a few months back and the only way they could get here in decent knick was in another box with loads of paper packing.

Oddly I'm very tempted by one or two of the games too and didn't realise a mint MM was worth much (my box is still in the attic and got opened twice, once to get the game out and once in fascination that I still had it)

Found some old snes games as well at the weekend which i've put on too, and twilight princess for gamecube, as they are re-releasing it on wii i figured there's no point keeping it :(

Loads of interest so far though, quite exciting despite the horrible thought of saying goodbye to all these games i've had since my childhood :(

Pity you listed Twilight Princess instead of the MM as ive decided to keep the Gamecube and its one of the games im interested in for it... still might pop in a bid depending on what it gets upto

edit: just had a better look through your listings and damn you know how to keep a game in mint condition i hope you get every penny a new copy is worth :)

Tempted to get rid of mines to be honest. I haven't played in what must be 5-6 years and while I love my N64 I will always have the memories. I think it would be better if someone else could also get enjoyment out of it.

Right. It has all ended on ebay (sold some other random 360/PS3 items also). I'm still awaiting payment for some items, but the below spreadsheet may interest some people who are considering doing likewise and selling up.

I thought I might make £200, that was my aim. However, someone took a liking to super mario world and majoras mask which kinda upped the overall total significantly. Take a look:

Seems too good to be true at the moment
