So my poor old Enermax Galaxy is giving me the 3 beeps after many years of great service. Fans failing I think. I might give it a good clean to see if that helps but I’m thinking a new 1000w psu..any recommendations?

cheers

Good evening Badger!

That PSU has lasted you a while, do you really need another 1000w PSU? Could you system run on something with lower power? You could save a bit of £££ that way aswell :D

Yes, it’s done well. I did over spec when I bought it just to future proof. I’m only running a 2070 super and about 4 hard drives. Not sure what I actually need power wise tbh. I’m going to take the PSU out tomorrow to see how easy a fan replacement will be. Just had a quick look on here and lots of PSU’s are sold out.

cheers

Yeah I'd say your PSU could be lower as the new GPU's recommend less power than that, Finding a lot of things in stock lately is a challenge with the whole pandemic, mining etc happening

What are your specs? PSU calculators over-estimate on the basis that it assumes you will use a crap PSU.

Hi

I'm using the following

Asus TUF X99 Sabertooth MB

I7-5820K 3.30GHz

2070 super

Team Group Elite 32GB

Samsung NVMe Solid State Drive

4 x HDDs

Blueray drive

24" Monitor

Cooler master cosmos s, with the big fan on side and about 3 other fans running

Cheers

I would buy an 850watt as it will cover you better for future upgrades (unless money is really tight)

New GPU's these days are drawing big power again

just google search psu calculator. pop ur details in and presto. probs around 500w for a 2070. however as grimly says if u want a 3080 in like 2024 when we might actually be able to get them, 750w-850w is best
