Hello Mac!

Just agreed a deal with a mate at work for an Apple Powerbook 15"

Didn't want to spend £1500 on a Macbook Pro and then realise I didn't like the OS, so this will be a nice compromise until I go to the States and Hong Kong later in the year.

Spec:

1.5GHZ G4
2048mb Ram
80Gb HD
9700 Graphics.

£325.

Good deal?

Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Supposing you did spend £1500 on a Macbook Pro and then realized that you didn't like OS X, you could always buy a copy of Windows and have a very nice looking, expensive PC laptop. :)

Wont like OS X? Is that even possible?! :p

My dad's a photographer and bought a mac. He didn't like it so after a month he sold it and bought a PC. Then bought a mac and now is sticking with PCs.

He just couldn't get used to different ways the OS worked and the sheer price of some of the programs.

As I said in the other thread, I've just installed Vista on my MBP and it's shocking compared to OSX.

MS seem to have had a massive brain-storming session when they first decided to make vista and then thrown every single idea (no matter how crazy or counter productive to other ideas) into the OS without actually thinking about it.

The desktop is so cluttered and the start menu is like a maze. Never mind questioning you every time you want to pee.

"Are you the owner of your bladder Yes/No"
"Are you sure you really need to urinate? Yes/No"
"Have you considered other forms of excretion like Windows Vista?"

Thats what I have to say about it.

While it's a good spec (and definitely a nice price!) to get you started in OS X I can't help but think that you won't get the true feel off the speed of the new machines.

The G4 is fine, but if you pit it against the new MBPs it'd die a death.

Base your judgment on OS X, not the speed of the machine.

I have to say, the control panel and general layout of the features is appalling.
Took me 25 minutes to find how to change a certain setting within the Network section!

However, turn off Windows Defender, UAC and the annoying security centre messages and it's not too bad.
