Hi,

Just having a mess about with Adsense. I've created the ads via their interface and added the code onto my site. Ads are displaying all nice and related to my sites content matter as sexpected.

Now, I clicked on a couple of ads randomly (maybe 3 or 4) and now my account balance shows £2.29 - this is something I set up literally 30 minutes ago. Is this normal, as I was expecting pence per link at the most. The subject is web relaterd stuff as I believe different subjects pay different amounts.

Thanks

Depending on the subject, you can get anything from pennies per click to a few pounds. Mesothemilia related clicks were famously paying ~$20 each at one point (it's a specific keyword of the illness related to asbesto = big lawsuits = big money!). Because you've clicked them yourself, I would imagine your account balance will have those clicks deducated within the next 24 hours. :p

To be perfectly honest I didn't even think about that. Just randomly clicked on it after I added the tracking code :)

Actually thinking about how strict google are, am I ok to place ads on my sidebar that appears on every page?

You can place the ads on a sidebar. Just don't show more than 3 ads per page and don't place them near an image.
My highest click to date was £1.17. Easy money :p

EDIT: Are you using the Easy Adsense plugin on your blog? If you are, make sure in the settings you set 'Percentage of ad slots to share' to 0% or some of the plugin owner ads will show on your blog.

Nar, I tried a plugin similar but it didn't work. Decided to just insert the adsense code manually into the worpdress plugin.

Actually, where are you looking to get the individual click value? Have checked in analytics and the adsense dash but cant find anything :(

I made 39 dollars in literally 1 week of starting.

I was kinda chuffed then google banned my site because they said there was a semi naked chick on it. (It was about computers).

I lost interest after that. Unfortunately they don't pay out til you get to a $100 :(

In several places in the site it says they pay when your balance reaches £5.....

never ever click your own ads. and don't think you can ring youre auntie 50 miles away, on a different IP, and ask her to give you a few hundred clicks. Adwords and hence Adsense is Google's main income so they look after it to the nth degree.
