I am administering a google apps for work account.
I'm suddenly having a issue with only 1 gmail email account on the domain . Emails are bounced back a day or so later with a socket error message. All DNS/MX/SPF records check out fine, nothing has changed for years. So I checked the logs.
The log files from the google admin panel for the email change right before my eyes.
The delivery logs state that email has communicated with server x and has been delivered. then 20 mins later. The original logs of the delivered messages vanish and are replaced with a Socket error message.
I called google and the same thing was happening to the operator to his surprise. He did then speak with his supervisor who said this was expected behavior given email delivery is a continuous process.
I don't want to kick up a fuss before getting my facts right. However I'm calling shenanigans on this one.
Logs as far as I understand should not change historically. Right ? Otherwise they are kind of useless.
Is anyone familiar with Gmail/Google Apps and have experienced such behavior. Or know of a way to contact someone up top ? Although normally I've found google support to be pretty good. This time I've hit a brick wall and maybe am beyond my understanding of email routing & standard procedures etc.
