I'm trying to set up a small Google Apps account with 8 users. We have a domain, call it "mycompany.co.uk", registered with 1and1.co.uk.
I've set up the 8 users in Google Apps, made a quick Site and I'm stuck with the email and need help.

I've created 8 email accounts with 1and1 eg, [email protected], [email protected] etc etc
In Google Apps I've created the same email addresses, so they correspond exactly. Is this correct?
I've followed the Mail Exchange (MX) guidelines in Google Apps and updated the setting in the 1and1 MX settings.

Now, before I made the changes I could send mail to John say, and it would land in the 1and1 mailbox fine. Now though it doesn't and it doesn't arrive at his Gmail account either.

Any ides where I'm going wrong and can anyone give me a bullet point list to follow to setup the email between the domain and Google?

Many thanks.

You only need to create the mailbox's on Google Apps.

The ONLY thing you need to do on the control panel for 1&1 is:

Log in to your account at https://admin.1and1.com.

If it's not already selected, click the Administration tab.

Click Domains. The Domain Overview page appears.

Select the checkbox next to the domain that you will be using with Google Apps.

From the DNS menu, select Edit DNS Settings.

Under Advanced DNS Settings, select the Other mail server radio button.

Enter information according to the table below:
MX 1 / Prio aspmx.l.google.com 1
MX 2 / Prio alt1.aspmx.l.google.com 5
Further backups My mail exchanger
MX 3 / Prio alt2.aspmx.l.google.com 5
MX 4 / Prio aspmx2.googlemail.com 10

Click OK.

You may also need to set up additional DNS records if you want to use custom URLS. By default your mail can be accessed via https://mail.google.com/a/yourdomain.com

As a example, I have mine set to https://mail.domain.com and created a CNAME record "mail" pointed to google apps servers.

Mail can either go to 1&1 or google, not both. Set up the accounts in google and get 1&1 to point the MX records to google's mail servers.
