I've been working with a company on updating a website. The new site is database driven and 100x more professional than the last.
The problem we have now is that searching for specifics on Google/Bing results in the old site's index being found. So a search result will take you to a dead link - the old page simply no longer exists.
I know that Google/Bing will index pages/sites in "their own time" - larger sites will find their sites indexed quickly, smaller may take time.
How does it work for links that no longer exist? Do Google/Bing actively "de-index" pages from sites once they are found not to exist? Can we speed that process up?
Thanks.
