Google Chrome: Backspace to go back

Plenty about this on the web. It seems that when a form losses focus and you hit the backspace key you can loose the data you have been typing. FFS, that has always been the case with ANY and ALL browsers. ANY idiot should know all you have to do is click the the curser within a form and it will snap back into focus. One of THE most important functions of any browser is to be able to just hit one key to go back. Google have got this completely wrong and i cant understand why or how they have come to the conclusion they have, namely, to completely disable the backspace key. For me it's that fundamental, if they don't bring it back, i'll just ditch Chrome.

Sweet, im always going back by accident, that should save me a lot of messing around.

Annyoing for you guys that use it a lot though.

Unless the form loses focus without you being aware, say a stray incorrect key press and you lose everything you've entered.

Doesn't mean anyone is an idiot.

I can understand why they've done it, and tbh, I can't say it's a function I have ever really used, after all, any idiot knows you can just hit the page back arrow with the mouse cursor...

The update probably makes sense. I just don't like change:o:p I don't use backspace to go back on my work PC or on my desktop, it's just when I have the laptop on my lap at home. I guess I just use the touchpad as little as possible..

By all means turn it off by default but it's bloody annoying that you can't just change a flag to restore it. I'll try the addon, thanks.

It's so fundamental to how I browse I don't really think I'll ever get used to it
