Anybody else here use Google chrome on their Macbook and find it locking up their system every few hours.

It's starting to become a pain in the a** now. Every few hours Google chrome will become un-responsive and any attempt to force quit or use terminal just doesn't work and seems to freeze the system even more.

Contemplating switching browser but I just like how chrome syncs with all my machines :/

Just a thought but have you tried using Safari as your Mac browser? It's fine and does everything chrome does (including syncing to all devices including PC).

There are also some added bonuses when you use Safari on your Mac. Firstly, you can install the ClickToFlash extension and it will convert any flash video to HTML5 on the fly. This improves battery and temp if you YouTube lots. It also lets you AirPlay the videos to Apple TV.

Secondly, you can use the trackpad to pinch and zoom in on the web pages like you can do in iOS.

I suppose you could try enabling click to run for Flash content and see if that makes a difference. Plugins are a prime suspect for browser crashes.

May seem silly but I had a similar problem, Was more frequent than what you are experiencing though. I decided to get an App Cleaner and uninstall every little file of Chrome and give it a fresh install it seemed to be okay for a few months then I stuck with Safari anyways.

May seem the obvious but im just pointing this out as it worked for me.
