Google Chrome for Linux

Much quicker than firefox here on ubuntu. Have been using as my main browser for a month or so and havent had any issues. If you are missing Ad Blocker Pro then try AdThwart for Chrome seems to work ok.

When I look on OCUK forums why do the fonts look all pixelated in FF and chrome?

I have installed windows 7 fonts, enabled all the AA stuff. It still looks blurry on the blue blackground. Typing this on the grey background the font looks just as good as win7.

How can I sort this?

This is how it looks on mine (1024 x 768 on my xubuntu laptop).. does this look ok to you? Now that I look at it I guess it IS a little blurry - maybe I'm just used to it !!

First impressions not too good, Chrome does feel a slower than Iceweasel, particular starting up and navigating between tabs.

been running chromium browser (not chrome, the open source version of it) for a while now, mostly good - but the lack of a *real* ad-blocking solution (one that doesn't do it in CSS) and the fact that the font rendering is carp annoys me.

I can't find a browser that I'm 100% happy with :(

Thats better than mine!

I have fixed my issue though! I just installed the ocuk black theme and it looks as good as it does on win7!

Maybe summit is wrong with the blue theme of ocuk, or it's my eyesight.

Why doesn't chrome have a drop down history model?

EDIT: Could it be a kde issue?

EDIT2: Booited up ubuntu 9.10 Gnome LiveCD and I installed the windows fonts and it does appear that it's a fault with KDE or opensuse.

I hope it's KDE as I kinda like opensuse otherwise.

It would appear that IceWeasel (now IceCat) is just firefox with the artwork and nonfree addons turned off and so should have performance the same as firefox - so I too am finding it hard to understand why it would be faster than chrome.

I don't have a problem with Chrome loading pages, it is fast, but I would say startup time feels slower than Iceweasel, and when navigating between multiple tabs, it doesn't feel as responsive as Iceweasel.

I'm not saying it's a huge difference between Iceweasel and Chrome, but Chrome does feel slower for the things I mentioned.

Though to be honest, I think Iceweasel runs pretty quick on my system, so Chrome isn't that far behind really... and it's still beta after all and maybe I was just expecting too much :D

I also love chrome. I've been using the dev build as my main browser for as long as I can remember. It's stable and extremly fast it's just miles ahead if anything imo. The feature I also love is the instant syncing of bookmarks across all your machines, it's a neat feature. The plugins also seem to be maturing now.

Out of the last dozen times where I've needed to use firefox (because my Uni library portal doesn't work on chrome ) I've had firefox crash three times on me. Over the whole time I've been using chrome as my main browser maybe over 6 months I can't recall it crashing more than twice and that was just a tab not the whole browser.

Dont think I'll ever go back to firefox tbh.

Last time I've played with it on suse, I remember having to fiddle around a lot just to get flash working. I'm sticking to my firefox for now.
