For some weird reason, Google Chrome keeps crashing. I have updated to the latest version (did it 5 minutes ago and it still happens) and have cleared the cache completely (but not cookies), and it does not seem to have helped at all.

All that happens is I try and visit a certain website and click on a link the whole browser will close with no error message or anything, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I thought clearing the cache or updating to the latest version would help, but it seems to be a constant issue.

It is so annoying that I am looking for a new browser to use for the first time in about ten years.

Is it only on a select few websites? Or does it run normally on others?

Might be something incompatible from the websites end.

What extensions are you using?

Personally I never use any extensions.

Adobe Acrobat
Amazon Assistant for Chrome
Bitwarden
Google Docs Offline
Google Scholar Button
Google Similar Pages
Google Translate
Grammarly
HTTPS Everywhere
Office Editing for Docs, Sheets and Slides
OneNote Web Clipper
Privacy Badger
Tag Assistant by Google
Windows Defender Browser Protection
Web of Trust

Right well.... we might of found our answer.

I never use extensions:

1. For security reasons.
2. For stability reasons.

I was reading recently that the majority of vulnerabilities these days in browsers are indeed via extensions.

Does it load in incognito mode? This usually disables extensions unless they're enabled for incognito mode especially in the individual extension settings. That'll help point to whether it's the the browser/website or simply an extension not playing ball.

If it does work in incognito, start by disabling all extensions in normal browsing then enabling one-by-one until you find the culprit.
