Google Chrome won't load websites

Hi,

I hope that someone can help me out.

Since getting home late last night Google Chrome has just stopped loading most websites (Facebook, etc.). I just keep getting an error page on almost all websites I try to connect to:" This webpage is not available", and under the more tab on the page it lists the following: Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET.

And for some reason if I remove the https:// some of the websites will then load, but not all (Facebook again). Amazon works unless I try and sign in, which of course it then tries to connect to an https:// address. I can't sign into Chrome either; I tried logging into to my Chrome account via the "Customise and Control Google Chrome" tab.

I've reinstalled Chrome a couple of times, deleted the cache, removed all Chrome related folders/files before re-installing, etc. and no go.

Everything works fine in Explorer though. I also tested out Chrome on my Surface Pro tablet and it's fine on there as I thought that it might be a network thing at home.

I've also searched around the web and have come across various instances of this but I've yet to find a solution.

Any help to resolve this would be awesome.

Thanks

Might be extreme, but I'm considering a fresh install of Windows 8.1 as I can't seem to find any solution to this :(

SOLUTION!!! :D

Found this on the Chrome support forum as I was just about to post there. Might be of use to anyone else who might end up with the same issue as me:

"HI all
Chrome 33 has been found to trigger bugs in non-default configurations of Kaspersky and ESET security software. We recommend that users disable SSL scanning in these products. Even when they work, SSL scanning bypasses Chrome's own certificate security. We believe that we have a partial workaround for the ESET bug which we are planning to include in a future Chrome 33 update. We do not currently have a workaround for the Kaspersky bug that doesn't involve reducing the security of all Chrome users. As other browsers deploy the same changes as in Chrome 33, they will also trigger the same bug.

To fix ESET do:

Setup -> Advanced setup... -> Web and Email -> Web access protection
-> HTTP, HTTPS -> check "do not use HTTP protocol checking" and click
"OK"."...."

So it messes with 1 browser and the AV's are to blame?

I get no issues with ESS and IE11, would be blaming Chrome on this occasion.

Why not repot to the AV vendor to get it looked at/whitelisted?
