Just discussing prices for toys after my sister spent £400 on an Ipad Mini 4 for her 6 year old daughter in addition to all the other stuff my niece got.

I seem to recall getting an NES around the same age with the R.O.B robot and Duck Hunt, laser gun and Mario Bros

Any idea how much this would have cost around 1988/1989?

There was a neowin post which listed all consoles, release date, launch price and price in todays terms. It's not that old, maybe within the last month

I'm sure most consoles were around £400 in todays money. My memorys not great, but I think the cheapest was the original xbox and the most expensive was the ps3

I remember at school that 3DO's and Neo Geo's were like mythical magic machines that everyone dreamed of getting one day but you knew you never would.

Fair play to my Dad though, any normal console I asked for I got, sometimes it weren't even my birthday or xmas, he'd just have a big win on the horses, get drunk and then promise me I could go and get it the next day. I think he regretted it in the morning lol but he never let me down.

I went from zero to hero in my school when I was the first to get a SNES streetfighter 2 pack. Everyone else had to wait 9 months till xmas :D

Wish I hadn't clicked that link, at my gaming peak I had The Neo Geo, 3DO, Jap Mega Drive, Jap Super Famicom, Atari Lynx with a good few games for each (barring Neo which I think I had 4 due to cost and the 3DO due to lousy releases) approx 30-40 imported titles each for the rest, sold it all for buttons down the road.

sob.

Ok I think this might be it's first appearance in the Argos Catalogue.
