Turns out Google have turned off email notifications and resorted to desktop and mobile app notifications only. This is a really silly idea as I used the emails a lot to watch and delete as my inbox is organised properly. Those complaining about inbox clutter from subscription emails could either turn off email notifications for subs, or simply create a filter to move youtube emails into another folder/label for later viewing. It really is that simple.
So now I have a mobile notifications tray that is littered with youtube notifications and desktop notifications through the browser don't stack until viewed like they do on mobile so if you miss the toast, then you'll have to scroll through the mobile list. Also if you watch a video on the browser after clicking a desktop notification, it won't synchronise that click with mobile and remove the mobile notification since you've watched that video.
Just another shambles decision by Google... Why not leave us the option to choose.
