Google Images - no direct image links any more?

On an image result, the first button says "visit" which takes you to the originating site and the second button used to say "image" which took you straight to the image file. Instead, it now says "save" which doesn't download the image to my PC. It's a pain because when I visit originating sites, they don't always have the image that was advertised on the Google results page.

Any work-arounds for this? I liked Google Images because you could force a certain size like 2MP-upwards, 4MP-upwards, 6MP-upwards and so on. DuckDuckGo is probably the nearest alternative that I found but it only forces 1024x768-upwards if I select the highest setting (extra large). Most desktop resse's these days are at least 2MP.

Its due to some settlement with Getty images or something IIRC - its a pain.

Not like it stops people getting hold of an image ultimately even if its a slightly more irritating experience.

I've found that just Right Click > Copy Image Location and paste that into your URL bar is quick and easy enough, then you can get a bigger size and save it from there.

Okies guys... I have installed a Firefox add-on called Imagus. If you mouse-over a thumbnail on popular sites (including Google Images), it fetches the highest available resolution for you.

The behaviour that I set when I hover my house over a thumbnail:

- enabled when pressing CTRL i.e. Imagus is inactive by default. When I mouse-over, CTRL fetches the hi-res image
- delay: 0 secs
- press Z to view it full screen and show it 1:1 scale

Works on thumbnails on Facebook as well! Tried it on Flickr too, which is a god-send because before it was a few mouse clicks to see the full res image.
