Hi.
As i understand, this new feature in googlemail, the imap support, will allow the same folder & contact structure for example in my mail client here at work, to be 'syncronised' through google to my one at home. Effectivly keeping the same structure and email universally.
Correct?

How would it do if i changed my pop access on my laptop to the imap? Would it automatically pick up all my folders, or would it list as a seperate entity in outlook, like a newgroup would for example?

Thanks in advance all. :).

imap only synchronises the mail folders on their servers with the client. it won't do anything with your contacts as they are stored in a .pst file by outlook.

if you use the "label" feature in gmail's web interface, they will appear as folders in imap. it looks like this....

Thanks.
That screenshots just what ive been looking for. :).

Its a shame google doesnt allow proper folders through its web interface tbh.

There's extensions for Thunderbird and Evolution to store contacts in an IMAP folder and sync them; I'm unaware of any similar functionality for Outlook, however :(
