Google maps in Dutch!

My Xperia one ii refuses to speak to me in English when navigating despite every setting I can find being set to that.

Can anyone think what I might be missing?

Are you connecting through a VPN which is routing you through Netherlands?

I was working using a dutch network for a while but don't have a VPN or anything on.

just an idea: have you reset your network settings? You probably have as it's an obvious one.

Have you tried resetting the app's storage?

Settings > App List > (app name) > Storage Usage > Clear Data & Clear Cache

A bit wasteful if you've downloaded a lot of offline maps, but might work.

I hadn't TBH but I did after you suggest and it didn't work unfortunately.

Last resort thing at it wipes all settings but then most Android apps don't have many settings.
