Google Maps' new 3D option.

Anyone tried this yet? Just use maps as per usual via your browser, switch to the 'Earth' view, click on the 3D button on the right and zoom in.

Yeah, sort of. The buildings aren't as high quality as Google Earth, but for a browser based map it's pretty damn decent.

This has been around for at least a year now :S or at least, I've been doing 3D in browser for around that time :S

It should be default for PC imho

Woah, they certainly updated my area (Harrow). The maps look colourful now and the 3D view is quite astonishing. Had no idea the latter existed.

I have used it for a while now. Pretty neat. One other thing, why doesn't flight sim developers like the FSX and P3D games use Google maps for the scenery in their games?

Yeah they've been transitioning it in for around a year now - only some areas have higher detail 3D though but some are quite impressive i.e. some of the more popular coastal places for example https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.6920182,-1.9689896,251a,20y,114.8h,71.58t/data=!3m1!1e3

Been some big changes in the last couple of months though to its functionality and a lot more areas covered in actual 3D rather than just the terrain elevation.

Well I use Google Maps a lot on a daily basis, and it definitely wasn't there a day or two back. Not on my Google anyway.

It's been in Chrome for a long time, maybe what you're seeing is support for other browsers?

Honestly, I'm not trolling you.
I used to pay £17 a year for Keyhole who eventually sold it to Google and they called it Google Earth.
Since then I get updated and the 3D has been on the browser for quite a long time HOWEVER I've just noticed they've added the 3D type buildings that were on Google Earth Pro.

Its been working in other browsers for me. They have been releasing functionality and content in a staggered fashion I think to users to test stuff so some users might see some differences in what is available but no one should be too far behind as in not have it at all.

I'll be honest, it was only about 4 months ago I saw the feature in Streets where you could go back several years so Malevolence missing the 3D button isn't so strange.
