A little while back I updated Maps on my Galaxy S4 and Google, in their infinite wisdom, decided to remove the ability to jump straight into navigation mode, i.e. without having to enter a destination.

I managed to find a way to downgrade to version 6.2 (I think) and everything was hunky-dory. At least it was, until the battery developed a fault and the phone had to be sent to Samsung, who kindly wiped everything, updated the o/s and all the default apps.

I'm now on version 7.5 of Maps, and can't for the life of me remember how or where I managed to install the older version from.:(

Can someone point me in the right direction (pun intended!)?

Just out of interest, why would you want to be in navigation mode without a destination?
So it functions the same as a "proper" satnav.

Not that I've seen a lot of car satnav systems, but I've yet to see one that requires a destination to be set before it shows its navigation screen.

I'm giving CoPilot a whirl for the moment, seems ok.

The entire point of a satnav, even "proper" ones, is that they guide you to your destination... why do you need it on when you're not going somewhere you don't know? Or am I missing something?!
