Is anyone a Google Maps wizard?
I've got this far after thousands of trial and error mistakes

I'm trying to do two things -

1) Have text next to the marker
2) Have the option of a course heading

Both illustrated beautifully on this page:

(Filters - show ship name and show ship course for 2 minutes)

Might anyone have any idea how this is achievable? Would really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction!!
 
I've done this before. I just searched for some google maps text label example and it worked.

If you want the bearing of the ship to rotate the You have 2 options. If you use a simple marker then you can have google rotate it. If you want a custom marker and not one of the defined google shapes then you just need to add your own div and rotate that.


I'll see if I can dig out some examples.
