Google music changing audio quality?

Does anyone know if Google play alters the bit rate of flac files when you upload your albums? I'm putting my entire music collection up there and they seem to be uploading very fast. Are they being converted to mp3 128kbit or something?
 
Nice thanks. Not in front of my comp right now so can't tell what is being uploads but I'll check tomorrow when I'm back home. But from the article am I right in aiming l assuming flag files are downgraded to 320mp3 ? But also lower but rate mp3 will be upgraded to 320?
 
Hmm. That's good and bad. Was planning on doing away with local storage but that means I'll lose my lossless files. Then again I can't really tell that much difference anyway between flag and mp3. Can you?

Depends on your sound system setup and your own hearing. Some people can, some people can't.

Perhaps get an external drive or a NAS and then dump all the FLAC files there?
