Google Nest Protect - battery, wired or another make?

I've been thinking for a while about getting a smoke/CO detector for each floor of my house (ground floor/first floor and loft where I have a work study). With Black Friday coming up I was thinking of buying some Google Nest Protects. I might get 4 if I want to have the kitchen and living room to have their own Nest Protects. Should I get the wired versions or will the battery ones be OK? I understand they don't detect heat, just smoke and carbon monoxide? Should I get something that can detect heat as well as smoke and carbon dioxide? If so what make is recommended?

We've not had our Nest protect long, but it seems to be doing fine, I really like the motion detector that causes the detector to light up a soft white light when it's dark. It's super sensitive and makes a trip to the loo in the early hours much nicer :D

I fitted the hard wired one just so it's less to worry about, it has an internal rechargeable battery any way.

Oh and I think you'll find the latest versions are quite smart.

Had ours for 3+ years now, and echo the above sentiment about the pathlight being very useful. We've got the battery version and only just recently had to change the batteries.

I like that it automatically tests itself, as I'm sure most people forget/don't bother testing their smoke alarms.

How easy is to fit the hard wired ones? My boss has been saying to get the wired ones over the battery ones for the mains power but I'd have to get an electrician in to do this?

Hmm I read somewhere the Nest Protect didn't have a heat sensor. That link proves otherwise. Thanks.

Having to change batteries every 3-4 years isn't a problem at all. I do have a single smoke detector at the top of the stairs that was there when I moved in; I've never done anything with it to test it. The batteries have probably run out.

Just remembered, Google have a sale on at the mo.
The Nest protect is £74, for either variant. Bargain! I might get another :)
I'm about to buy the Google Nest smart thermostat. Wasn't sure whether to get the Nest Protect at the same time or make a separate order so I can use the store credit from the thermostat on the Protects. :)
