I sync my phone to this and it's saved the past 7 years of snaps.

Today, whilst bored at work, I started looking through them all.

It has a search function so I type in cats.
It actually goes through the 10000 pictures and brings up all the ones with cats in... Even one from the London gay pride parade we visited on 2015, a bus with a picture of a cat on it.

I did beard next, plenty of pictures.
I did bus and it found areoplanes, tube trains, trams in Amsterdam.

Im seriously impressed and quite scared too, is photo recognition this good now..?

Yes. This is why they always ask people to send in your photos in. It's not a free 10GB, they are using pictures of your wife and children, and cats, to widen their data mining scope and make even more money off your data.

And if 10GB isn't enough they will give you 100GB, but only for 1 year :D, so they can analyse and datamine everything in your photos right down to your brand of underwear.

Yes, my phone does this as well. I just type cats into the search within the photos app and up come any pictures of cats. Lots of different categories are recognised.

Yeah the facebook automated alt descriptions for images are scarily detailed these days and they aren't even the most bleeding edge variant of it :s

yes... thought it has taken a while - the perceptron was invented in like 1957... you can thank computer gamers for essentially funding GPU research which lead to an area of machine learning that was previously written off as a waste of time becoming more feasible and quite useful in the past few years
