It suffers from a "we know best syndrome"... Why on earth does it give you NO option other than to see all folders arranged/grouped by year?

So if I have a folder dedicated to car pictures, with subdirectories in for different cars, these are just thrown in/sorted by the year the folder happened to be created? Rather than how I've decided to put it. It's stupid!

Imagine I want a structure like:-
Code:
Cars/
  BMW/
  Nissan/
Holidays/
  USA 2001/
  USA 2006/

Picasa instead (cos it knows best??) could display them completely flat like:-
Code:
--2006--
BMW/
USA 2006/
--2004--
Nissan/
--2001--
USA 2001/

What sort of logic is that? Stupid stupid stupid!

Oh well another application to organise photos tried... Another to uninstall :(

CHRONOlogic? :D

In some case that may be fine, but in many others it makes no sense.

Let's say you want to keep photo's of the cars you've owned in ONE folder, and infact in that "cars" folder you'd then break the photos down into individual folders of the different cars themselves.

Basically you cannot do this in Picasa. It will simply present the folders in date order. So you'll find your cars spread "randomly" in the date the folders were created, mixed up with every other folder you've ever added.

Shame you can't tell the software what you want it to do, rather than it telling you what's it thinks is best!

Well iTunes has been doing that for years and many, many people are very happy! ;)

In all the details about Picasa I've seen - it clearly states it organises everything by date.

Ermmm.....ok
Well that was helpful, cheers

I totally agree with NeilFawcett. It amazed me that when I went to look for the option to change the 'sort by' method that it just didn't exist! Such a shame as I really liked the way all my photo's were visible in one place and I liked the look of the rest of the app.

lets face it guys, this program is
a)free
b)trying to be as simple as posable

what you moaning about? if you want to have a more powerfull prog, go buy it.

Have to laugh at this sort of attitude... Anyway, it appears they recognise it as a short coming and V2.5 is going to allow true folders withing folders etc :)

You can also organise by your folder structure too.....

the bad thing about it for me is that its crap at resizing from very large images down to small size, they go bad (not very bad) quality

Photoshop CS2, File, Scripts, Image Processor :) for the win

Well, I suspect the only time they will be re-sized is for emailing, so quality isn't that important :)

You may complain is something is free, but whats the point. Its cost you nothing except maybe wasting your time. So to complain about it would be to waste even more time...

LOL! So:-
a) I've found out they've resolved it - result! And how to obtain that software!
b) How do you think people improve software (be it free or not), by people pointing out the faults with it.
