Had an email this morning from Google, delivery should be earlier than expected, looking at 26th-27th July. Expecting the new Pixel buds pro in the same package.
Why not get the standard Pixel 6? It's larger, has wireless charging, and with some of the trade in deals is basically the same priceSo I'm thinking about the Pixel 6a to replace my Samsung S10 plus. I'd like a phone that takes better pictures and the S10 plus is like...4 years old.
S10 is great in that it has headphone socket and memory card ability but it is getting on.
I was about to buy some pixel buds anyway...so that makes this phone £300....and they have offered me £160 trade in for the S10 plus.
So really £140 to get the pixel 6a....but I really do love the S10! It's a bigger phone too.
Opinions?
Outrageous!!!The 6a has no wireless charging?? How can any phone that's brand new not have this these days.

You'll miss out on the pixel buds, but it sounds like you want the size and wireless charging anyway, and would have bought the buds regardless
I'm considering an upgrade at the moment. I'm liking the Sony Experia 10 IV on paper, standard, ultrawide, and 2x cameras, massive battery, headphone jack, MicroSD. Only thing putting me off is the duration of security updates is a bit of a grey area with Sony :/I dunno, I'm not too bothered about getting another big phone. I just feel maybe with a phone that's three years old it's time to get *something* newer. What are the deals on the 6? I've been offered £160 for my S10+ vs the 6a. I guess I should go look at the 6 thread.
I think a big attraction is the fact I was going to buy buds anyway...then it's kinda another £300. Wireless charging doesn't bother me, never wireless charged before.
The hard thing about giving up the S10+ will be the lack of headphone jack. I know i'm about to get buds but I have the great Bose noise cancelling headphones, love them for calls. Oh and the expandable memory of the S10+ - just throw in a micro SD card and boom, now have about 500GB of things to watch.
I'd really like a nice camera upgrade as my pics could have been better on my last trips.
If you do go with the Sony I'd be interested in your thoughts. It was the other one on my list.I'm considering an upgrade at the moment. Sounds promising! How is the "feel" of the phone given that it's plastic? Is it pretty solid?Received the Pixel 6a, Really like the small size of the phone, and have set it up now with all my apps and preferences. Having recently heard about the fingerprint issue plaguing this phone on various sites I was naturally concerned, so I registered two fingerprints and found the phone will only unlock using those two. Various reports claimed people were unlocking their phones with unregistered fingerprints. I am UK based, my phone did not have any firmware updates available to download, so come with the latest. Can only assume in other territories maybe updates are required.

How do you rate the screen on the 6a.
Wife has spent the day with hers - she's had pixel phones since the Pixel 2, and this 6a replaced a Pixel 4. Only good things reported so far - very snappy response, screen is a bit over saturated and bright at first so there was some settings to fiddle with. Definitely doesn't feel quite as nice in the hand as my Galaxy S21, but it's not cheap feelingHow do you rate the screen on the 6a.

So far so good, I`ve gone from a Pixel 6 to a 6a, wanted a smaller device. Only had it for approx a day, and generally, the experience is smooth, even with the 60hz screen of the 6a. Most of the guts between the 2 phones are the same. So unless you heavily rely on a 60z+ screen, a minimum of 8GB ram like if you are a heavy multi-tasker, or need a really good camera on a phone, you're not going to notice too much and only in occasional photos the Pixel 6 may have the edge over the 6a. Plenty of youtube videos comparing the two to check out.How do you rate the screen on the 6a.
