Google Pixel 7/7 Pro & Pixel Watch

Interesting info in regards to the old Tensor 1 modem.... External modem. Difference to Samsung E2100 in the S21 lineup.

Since it’s a phone SoC, naturally the Tensor needs some sort of cellular connectivity. This is another area where Google is relying on Samsung, using the company’s Exynos Modem 5123. But, unlike the Exynos 2100 and its integrated modem, the Tensor uses a discrete external variant. As to why it’s discrete, it’s likely that with the massive GPU, larger CPU setup (two X1’s with full 1MB L2’s), and unknown size of the TPU, that the Tensor chip is quite large even in relation to the Exynos 2100.

Samsung modems are not the greatest, so I wouldn't expect it to be perfect by any means.
I can't remember anyone complaining about cell connectivity before the Pixel 6vcane along.

And ill be doing this same test below when I have the 7 Pro in...

The Pixel 6 Pro deffo has a weak antenna/signal issue. I can't see it getting any better with updates.

Below shows the dB readings vs a Samsung handset

7db difference is significant.

Spigen Rugged Armor case for me. Got the same on my Pixel 4 XL and had the same on previous phones. Nice balance between protection and not being too bulky.

No idea about screen protector, usually go tempered glass but like you said this has curved screen and fingerprint sensor so it may prevent that this time?
Those look nice and they even have clear cases for the Pixel 7. Always such a shame to have beautiful phones hidden away in black rubber.

Like the look of the base 7. It's tempting to try it. Just been put off by the screen issues (Uniformity and tint) that have plagued the 3/4/5 - never bothered with the 6.

Saying that, if the S23 is Snapdragon worldwide, that tempts me even more. Just not confirmation of that yet

Case wise I've used the Spigen Hybrid clear cases on my Pixel 4XL and now my 5. Good protection, tight fitting, and enough lip over the screen surface to save it from drops. The clear back is plastic so stays looking good

Anyone on here got the Pixel 6 Pro & is getting the Pixel 7 Pro to replace it?

I am doing just that. The FPS was just so bad on my 6 Pro I couldn't use the thing.

Here's hoping the 7 Pro is much much better.

Yes here.

The fingerprint on my 6 Pro is actually OK. Though the one on the S22U I had was noticeably better.

With face unlock here now it'll be much more practical day to day.

I've only ever had Samsung phones before and use the Samsung smart switch app to transfer all apps, data and settings etc between devices. Is there a way to transfer from Samsung to pixel?

Yes, they all come with similar apps that are compatible across pretty much all Android phones.
