:D

I had decided this year to get an iPhone. As you know the ProMotion on the 15 Pro gave me motion sickness (like the 14 Pro I got last year) which made me promptly return it. I've been toying with getting a Pixel 8 instead but for many reasons that are still valid I still want to go Apple. I can use the regular iPhone 15 without getting motion sickness but I've been on the fence whether I could use 60hz again. I used a 13 mini for over a year and never once had an issue with the smoothness of 60hz. So I've been running my Pixel 5 60hz and adjusted easily so I'm going to try the 15. The other features I loose from not getting the 15 Pro aren't an issue.

I've had many Pixels over the years (2, 4, 5, 6a and 7) and the 6a/7 were returns due issues. So my recent Google Pixel track record has been pretty poor, which is one of the reason I'm not holding my breath with the 8. I've never had to return an iPhone due to issues, mostly it's a me/preference return reason.
Do you get a "back button" on the 15 Pro?

There’s a “back” somewhere in the app or maybe a gesture maybe a swipe up or down or to the side or maybe at the top or bottom or in the middle. iOS is shocking when it comes to going “back” lol.
It's bizarre, such a useful function and easy to add in. That alone keeps me away from iOS. I'm enjoying the Pixel experience so far, straight forward Android.

Yea it’s a bit odd. People claim iOS is so polished etc. No it isn’t. And that’s coming from someone who’s been on it for 2 years + app quality may be better overall for sure and many things just “work” but it’s not all that.

From what I've seen it seems to work well because it's so looked down and has a very restricted pool of hardware to be compatible with. Same for functionality, much easier to make things just work if there are fewer functions in the first place. Horses for courses I suppose.

That’s basically it. The fact that and ours is more open gives you many pros but there also many cons.. it kinda depends what fits your day to day life. I want to get back to android and may pick a pixel 8 when the prices drop but for now I’m sticking with this.

Looks like it's a little bit cooler but this is of course not indicative of real world usage. I always found previous model would heat up a lot on cellular when doing light tasks. Possibly due to the modem having to chug juice to get signal.

Most of the time I turn off 5G as the speed just isn't needed, that helps.

A good first look and the fact he says the 8 Pro is noticeably cooler than the 7 Pro is a good, even with the screen cranked brighter than the 7.

Problem with a low quality temperature recorder is they don't read correctly when comparing different surfaces... I. E. A white vs black back..... and Matte vs shiny.

So going purely on actually feeling hot... it looks like a substantial improvement has been made.

I'll find out with certainty when I have it in my hands. My Pixel 6 Pro is magically running noticeably cooler under the new Android 14 update.

I'm reading that if you preorder the P8 bundle from Amazon you can actually return the pixel buds or watch for full refund.
It's not a full refund, I looked into this a couple of days ago. They reduce the cost of the watch to around £258 on the Pro 128GB. You see this at checkout and not before. Still not bad though. For me the CPW deal worked out cheaper @ a total cost of £918 less the £70 TCB and the £235 I've already got for the watch.

My orders have moved to preparing for dispatch.

Do you think there is anything to everyone being on embargo in regards to the screen and not being able to do anything with the phones? Was watching a video earlier and normally stuff like that means there could be issues with the device. Like if you’re confident that nothing is wrong then why the restrictions…

I’m both excited and nervous so probably reading too much into it at this point.
Mines change too, still yet to decide on a case. Maybe try a Caseology one this time, or a Magsafe variant.
