Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

I feel like Google have lost their way with the Pixel lately. I'm terms of both design and hardware. I think the 5 was probably the peak for me. The 9 just looks like an iPhone. But then I guess most phones are now just black slabs of glass.
I loved the 2XL. My daughter still has it now and I use it from time to time, still brings a smile to my face.

I feel my pixel 8 pro is absolutely spot on bar the battery hungry modem.

Think I'll wait for the 10

And probably wait until close to the 11 launch to buy it at a discount :D

as posted above, you only need to wait a couple of months before you can find them for 50% off. That's what I did with all my pixels, including the 8.

Keep your eye on EE, they usually do crazy discounts just after Christmas on the phone without sim. No faffing about.

The only time you should buy on launch day is if you want the free gifts and have the 10% cashback. Even then, it's still usually better to wait a few weeks.

Not really a fan of the new design on camera bump, much prefer the full bar. Pixel Watch is gonna need some major battery improvements to even be worth considering unless its included as a freebie.

Skipping the 9 personally.

10 with with TSMC chip for me...

For one, there’s the simple fact that Google’s next Tensor chip, G4, is more of a stopgap than anything else. 2025 will see the arrival of a fully custom Tensor chip made by TSMC, and G4 is rumored to really just be a minor bump on top of the current Tensor G3. That should be fine, as Tensor G3 is holding up way better than the first two generations, but we really don’t know how much better it will be. Rumors claim it will be better with heat and efficiency, and is also adopting an updated cellular modem that includes satellite support. So, given the minor upgrades, it may simply be that Google’s next Tensor chip will be ready for primetime a bit earlier than last year.

I have tensor G3. It is fine and for a flagship fine just doesn't cut it. The 5G modem still has garbage signal strength and heats up far too much.

G5 is an all new design and a better fab. No way I'm paying top dollar for a 9 when a year later a much better SoC is available.

I'm betting the 9 will also be an extremely incremental upgrade in all areas over the 8. An 8 on sale is the way to go.

Really? I don't even have a screen protector and mine is holding up excellently.

Mine was trashed and now has a screen protector on (which I usually don't use, first time in probably 8 years).

In fairness, I've not been nice to it but other phones have held up to similar abuse. It seems well documented across reddit etc too.
