Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

Pixel 9 is more or less twice the price so it's a big step up in cost for not a huge upgrade. From what I understand, everything is just a little bit better as you'd expect from a year-on-year release. Maybe wait and see what the 9a offers?
Thanks - i'd done a brief google and seemed to get the same general idea about being more a side/small upgrade but price wise doesn't seem too bad for the 9 vs 8.

I can grab a 128GB sim free from Voxi for about £510, cheapest 8 elsewhere is about £420 so the price difference isn't too stark.

When's the 9a due?

For that difference get the 9.

Though I bought a Pixel 8 for Voxi new for £184 2 months back :D

With the 25% code going around can get Pixel 9 128GB with Pixel 6 trade-in for £293 directly from Google.
Due tomorrow thanks to a kind soul on here.

Got the £18'ish google store credit as well but TCB hasn't tracked yet - although having used the discount code, it would be a declined down the line I imagine.

Would you guys recommend the P9 Pro XL, is it a big upgrade from the P7?

For some unknown reason upgrading to the Pixel 9 is £20 a month more than the Pixel 9 Pro XL for me with Vodafone so I'll likely just go with that since it's the better phone for notably less money.

From the dimensions it doesn't seem that much bigger but in practice does it feel unwieldy compared to the standard models?

I get used to phone sizes pretty easily jumping from 6.2 to 6.8 is no real problem.

What's lacking on your pixel 7 for you to upgrade

My P9 Pro arrived Monday. Very impressed so far. Battery life is better than my P7 for now, but more importantly, call quality & reception seems to have improved. I am getting a signal in areas the P7 struggled.
I transferred the data from my old phone, but you forget just how reliant we are on apps and stuff for daily life.
I am not a heavy user by any means, but going through all your apps and re-entering details/sign in data is quite the chore. :D

Its a beautiful device naked, but it my hands it wont stay that way.
I have been pretty impressed with Ringke`s cases in the past. I purchased The Onyx case in camo. Really nice.
Also fitted the Spigen EZ fit screen protector. Expensive, but fitted first time so have a spare. (Normally i go through at least 2 to get it perfect :p)

I've never been impressed with the battery life on the Pixel 7, I've seen in reviews some mixed opinions but largely that the P9 Pro XL does last the day better than most. Also it does have a scratch from a drop on the screen that while minor bothers me.

I've just upgraded from a Pixel 7 to Pixel 9 Pro (I hope the 9 Pro is as reliable as my 7 has been).

I vowed not to upgrade for 2 to 3 years, but got such a good deal, I'll actually profit from the upgrade.

The 9proXL is chunky. At least with a spigen air case it feels slightly thicker and wider than my old S21U with a ringke onyx case.
I had one of those Pitaka aramid cases on my Pixel2XL and might get something similar for the 9.

I miss the double tap to wake and sleep the screen and I haven't gotten used to the buttons yet.
Samsung puts power below the volume, Google above and I keep hitting the volume keys by mistake.

I never really thought the S21U was slow, but this phone feels smoother and apps open and switch quicker.
Face unlock is pretty good too. Probably just as well as I seem to struggle with in-screen finger print readers often, despite registering my thumb a couple of times.

I also think the built in speaker is also better than the S21u. It has more body and bass to the sound.

Trade in pack arrived yesterday so I took my old P2XL to the P.O. in the afternoon.

sorry, double tap works to wake the screen, but not to sleep.
Just found there are a few apps available as a workaround, like this one:
I now have a transparent widget on my homescreen and a button in the quick settings, pull down.
They do require the accessibility permission though.
