Google Pixel Fold

I'm definitely interested in seeing how it goes. And will also definitely not being buying a first gen product.

Definitely interested in this, Samsung's two generations on from my Fold 2 and I don't think they've done anywhere near enough. I don't like the Fold form factor, and the other form factors such as the Oppo Find N2 Fold aren't easily available in the West.

The Fold 5 is rumoured to be the same tall format. I do agree with kona786 in regards to worry of it being a first gen foldable as software is even more of a key factor for multitasking and there's a poor record of apps on Android not scaling well on tablets. Not particularly a fan of the bezels on the inside, but then again, the shorter and wider front screen will be such a welcome change.

This, plus folding phones need to be a lot slimmer before I'll be intrested.

While it would be nice in some ideal world to have super thin foldables that last a long time, the fact is a slimmer device means less space for a battery, so unless you want your 8-inch foldable screen to last all of half a day before dying, I just don't see that happening without some kind of miraculous technological advancement.

That said, £/$1700 for a phone is still far too expensive for 99% of consumers at the moment, though more manufacturers jumping onto the bandwagon should mean a drop in production costs (hopefully).

I assume they will have some crazy intro offer with watch and buds bundled in and a good trade in for Pixels so i might be tempted especially as i have some google store credit use up at the same time.

Some reports saying it will be £1250-1500 range

Only uses a Tensor G2 so it's not a large upgrade from my 6, although to be fair I don't need peak performance anymore. I'm more worried if it'll be efficient enough with that large screen to still have good battery life.

Glad the front screen is a more comfortable ratio, Samsung's is just too long. Will be curious how Google will handle apps transitioning between the front and large screens.

But yeah, first gen product so will give it a miss but can see myself going for the next version.

Tensor G2 and not having the cam sensors of the upcoming 8 pro is what's mainly stopping me. Happy to wait anyhow.

I've pre ordered. Not sure if I'll get the full value for the trade in? Trade in T&C's consider good condition as no cracks and working screens, which matches the condition of my Fold 2. However the outer metal around the outside screen is worn down a little purely from where I open and close the phone.

It's just too much dollar for me. (Currently have a 7 pro and got the watch)

Watch seems to sell anywhere from £150-£220 on the bay.
