Google Pixel Phone Disastrous Bug

After yesterday's 'update' my Pixel 6 Pro after restart, began demanding a password to unlock. There is no password and has never been a password on the phone (PIN and google account, gmail passwords do not work either).

After spending all last night on to Google support, who were very poor, they kept claiming that the only suggestion was to erase all data.

Now I found on Reddit (not Google Support who were very poor) Repair options but after trying Repair and restore and other fastboot options, the Pixel permanently requests a password (that has never existed) to unlock. PIN, fingerprint etc. are disabled until you get past this Google Pixel bug.

Google had no idea how to fix this other than to erase all data which should be a last resort. They were also unable to tell me where to even enter this mysterious new password on the Pixel. I asked where to create one in case this happens again, but Google support do not even know where to create the password.

So after trying everything else, repair did not work, Pixel always demands a non-existent password to unlock, I had to erase all data and do a reset. SO I did that last night and started re-installing apps this morning. Just went to unlock my phone after lunch and it's asking for the non-existant password again!

Google Pixel is currently broken and Google support do not have any idea how to fix it.

Does anyone here know anything that can help?

I honestly could not buy another Pixel again, if it is this bad. I know they want people to buy their new phones but I will be moving to Chinese phones after this.

Any ideas OCUK, you are my last hope?

A QA engineer walks into a bar.
Orders a beer.
Orders 0 beers.
Orders 99999999999 beers.
Orders a lizard.
Orders -1 beers.
Orders a ueicbksjdhd.

First real customer walks in and asks where the bathroom is. The bar bursts into flames, killing everyone.

Or in your case:

An Android engineer walks into a bar.
Tests his software release with a pin code.
Tests his software release with an unlock pattern.
Tests his software release with a password.

@Rezident walks into the bar and updates his phone without a passcode. The phone burst into flames and Google support have no idea what's going on.

Have you tried to remove the device from your account, also is there or has there been more than 1 Google account signed onto the handset at any point?
I previously had an issue where I'd borrowed a friend my old Pixel while his phone was in for repair but he couldn't set it up because it was still tied to my account online...to remove it I did the following and once I'd done it he could set it up with no problem.
  1. Go to your Google Account on any device.
  2. On the left navigation panel, select Security.
  3. On the Your devices panel, select Manage all devices.
  4. Select the device

    Sign out.
  5. If multiple sessions appear with the same device name, they could all come from the same device or multiple devices. If you want to make sure there’s no account access from a device, sign out of all the sessions with this device name.

Goolge implements a security feature where by if a Pixel Phone is factory reset BEFORE the Google account is removed then on reset it will ask for a password of an account that was previously logged into the phone.
Doesnt help now but in future, for mental note remove the Google Account first, then factory reset it.

No there has not been more than one google account, I only have one.

There is only one device. Google's software update yesterday has made the phone unusable. After every hard reset, where I erased all data off the phone, it asks for a password that does not exist! How can this keep happening. I swear I will never buy another Pixel again. Google has gone to the dogs. Is there any reason for this other than aggressive 'planned obsolescence'?

Google Support is terrible! All they say is: factory reset

Reddit was better, they mentioned the Pixel repair tool (strange that none of the three staff at Google did) but even the repair tool did not work.

Yesterday's "update" resulted in the Pixel continually asking for a password (that does not exist). Totally locked out of the phone, PIN, fingerprint nothing works! So annoying.
