Google Play store crashing

Hi,just got myself an android box running 6.0.
The Play store came pre-installed but it was an old version so I downloaded the latest apk file and installed it.
Now every time I launch the play store app I get a "By using Google Play you agree to the terms,decline/accept" dialogue box.My account is at the top so I am logged in.
So,I accept,go to my apps and it crashes and goes back to the boxes home screen
However,if I search for an app through my browser and then go to the play store via a link it allows me to install that app and doesn't crash.
I have the latest version of the store and the latest version of services.
Any idea what the cause may be and the solution ?
Thanks

Ah,right,I didn't realise that,I thought it worked acroos all versions.
A quick google shows a few versions for 6.0 based on different hardware, not sure which one I want.

If the old version works i would just use that as some apps may not be compatible with the new version.
Can always install apks from the likes of Aptoide but it's trial and error if they work properly as the apps are designed for touchscreens.

I've downloaded an older version. Will it automatically over write the new version or do I have to delete the apk file first ?
If it's the latter do you know the path ?

I've tried it and it won't install so presumably I need to remove the newer one first....if I can find it

The pre installed play store didn't work mate which is why i installed the later one.
I suppose I could factory reset and then install the correct one but that would have to be last resort

Just to follow this up,it appears to be working now. However I have 2 play store apps,1 being version 1.0.I can disable this but I'd like to uninstall it.Any idea how ? I have root acess

I've done it with ES Filer explorer, all working ok now :D
