This is fantastic - As soon as it was announced I set it up and am now pleased to say I have live contacts/calendar syncing over the air from my Google account using the iPhone's Exchange client capabilities.
I tried all kinds of solutions to get my contacts and calendars synced up via my Macbook (I was about to hand over $20 to Spanning Sync before this beauty was released) which ofcourse would have meant syncing via iTunes every night/few days to get my iPhone up to date. Now it syncs automatically every time I fetch my emails or view my contacts/calendar.
I highly recommend it - I use Google Calendar Sync at work (which syncs my Outlook calendar with my google calendar) so when a new appointment comes in to my work calendar, I instantly see it in my google calendar, and hence, my iPhone calendar.
It took some time to get my contacts all sorted out but now I've got it setup, I imagine it will be a joy to use.
