Google: Tsunami Alert

Has anyone else seen this? I don't think i've ever seen an emergency warning on google before!

Good idea though, it's gotta be one of the most effective ways of getting emergency information out to the largest number of people in the shortest period of time.

They should change the google logo to reflect it too, good idea though

The should put it on the search page somewhere as well. I never go to that page as I have the search box on Firefox.

Seen it also, but only from a .co.uk address, typing in .com (will bring up .nl here in Holland) does not show the warning.

Excellent Idea although I'm now picturing all our bretheren in the effected areas locking themselevs in their rooms/basements etc... with their computers en masse!

Moot point.

Google are not an authority to issue country wide warnings, that is the responsibility of the country itself and it's chosen process.

Google are just "helping out" and reaching people who may not be aware via official channels, it's not meant to target everyone but hell - it's going to hit a fair few people.

Blinkers - remove em.
