Synchronize the built-in calendar and contacts on your iPhone with your Google account.

* Get Google Calendar events on your device
* View multiple Calendars in different colors
* Synchronize your Contacts with Google
* Have changes pushed directly to your phone

blah blah blah blaah.

Just been moving all my Outlook 2007 contacts and Calendar entries to Googol Mail/Calendar with it updating more or less in real time on my jailbroken 3G. Schweeet.

Only issue I see is that when you add UK addresses to your contact on Googol and then click on that address in the contacts applet on the iPhone, googolmaps pops up trying to find that address in the US for some reason. Yet when you try the same from within GMail, GMaps finds the right location without an issue.

Doesn't help that Gmails UI is utter pants either. I was like "WTFBBQ?" when I went into there for the first time last night. Hope they redo the UI soon. Luckily for me I don't actually use Gmail as my primary email account.

Thanks. I know you would need wifi but I just wanted to check that there was no software / version issues.
I presume that if you weren't connected to wifi, any changes on ipod or google would be synced or pushed next time you connected?
Not tested it but yes iirc since Push can be activated (via settings applet) in manually, every 15mins, every 30mins etc.

For those using Push tech, have you noticed dramatically worse battery life? Since enabling gogol sync it is common for me to have to charge my 3G twice a day. I only charged mine 3hrs ago to the max and its already sitting at 35%....

I knew Push would decrease battery life, but not this rapidly. Got no apps running in the background via the background app either - just the standard phone and mail as usual.

Went to bed at 11:30pm last night and woke up at 5am earlier. The phone was down to 60% from a full charge. That is way too drastic. At this rate I'll be switching off push altogether and syncing contacts/calendars via outlook again.

I'll monitor battery at work today now that I've re-charged it to max again.

I switched Push off an hour ago after noticing the battery dropping rapidly at work through the day.

I was just told by a friend that if I switched it off and reverted to fetches, then upon launching the Contacts or Calendar app, the data would be grabbed off their servers and he was pretty much correct so I'm Ok now. So still using gogol cal/contacts but via Fetch instead.

Well I had figured that already and therefore I hadn't been messing around with Contacts or Calendar since that data was complete and required no editing. Gogolmail was set at 15min fetches though. I'll be spending a fair amount of time today reading about Apples Push implementation because iirc it works differently from MS's version.
