GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition Mexico Snorkelling footage

Looks decent. It's difficult to judge the footage well though due the water not being crystal clear.

Why did you shoot in 60fps instead in of 24 or 25? Unless you're doing slow motion, higher frame rates tend to look a bit like budget TV.

Currently I've got the Sony AS100 which is great out of the water but needs a flat lens to focus when under.

Looks like a cool trip by the way.

englishpremier- i used the 60FPS because i was using the slow-motion feature in GoPro studio before adding it into Sony vegas. i slowed down some of the snorkeling footage such as rays shaking sand of them. It worked really well and i will be uploading the slow-motion tests soon. :)

And yeah i understand the footage when its all underwater. I do have another video just about mexico including chitin-itza and other ruins and you can really see the amazing quality in them videos. you will be bale to find it on my channel :)

And how do you mean about the difference between 24 or 30 FPS compared to 60FPS. Does 24 look smoother or something? Not really messed much with these to say i do video editing every day.

Fr0dders- The equipment i have bought and used for the GoPro is a lot. Ive spent at least £300 on just equipment.

Water Float Grip
Normal Grip
LCD Screen backpack
Battery backpack (used this more)
4 Wassabi power batteries with charger
2 GoPro official batteries
head Mount/strap
RAV Power File-hub - for transferring footage from micro SD to external HDD
GoPro Frame
And GoPro waterproof cases

ohh and i have the official GoPro Red Filter. This is why some of the underwater footage looks really clear when it cancels out the blue, but it can make it look red if it above 4 meters i think, really hard to judge

I had an AS100 but lost it when I was snorkeling in the med (hit by a big wave and it disappeared:(). I wasn't particularly happy with how most of the accessories used the screw in mount. I feel the GoPro mounts are much more secure.

Just use gopro accessories with it? I've got few that I use.

I have many gripes with the AS100 but the mount isn't one of them. Especially if you already have camera gear that uses a standard tripod mount.

Looks really impressive.

Going to Egypt in 2 weeks, bought a Hero for Snorkelling for £90 but also future uses will include paintballing/go karting / mountain biking and climbing (and maybe track days).
Couldn't justify spending extra £200 for the sort of use it would get but would be satisfied with anything 1/2 like what you captured.

I got an orange float attachment with strap for it (as well as helmet/chest strap), which i think enabled you to grip the GoPro and providing a bit of piece of mind if you let go.

Am i right in saying that the standard plastic surround provides sufficient water resistance at typical snorkelling depths or did you use an additional in case?

the standard case the go pro comes in that has no gaps in the case is resistant up to 40m i believe. The one with the touch screen film on the back is to 3m and the other with gaps is obviously not water proof at all. Use the standard one with no gaps for water to enter the case :)

How would you mount it given that the AS100 uses normal camera screw in adapter?

I use one of these.

I actually prefer the proper tripod mount, but gopro accessories are cheap and plentiful. The on in the picture came with a chestmount I bought (great for motorcycle stuff), but you can buy them separately for a few pounds on auction sites.

@NeoVo I'll be interested to see how your underwater footage with the regular Hero compares to the OPs Hero 4.
