GoPro Hero7 Black, audio question regarding connecting to PC/Laptop

Hi all.

I'm sure it is possible, but not knowing for sure I've got to ask prior to purchase. Can you connect the GoPro directly to another source like a PC/Laptop and record audio stright from it to the GoPro whilst recording?

No you can't, not direct to the GoPro anyway.

Think it's easier to add music once you've recorded what video you want.

Or use an external microphone and try connecting that to your GoPro.

I'm not sure I can link another site, but GoPro list a Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter which

Enables stereo mic and line input for external audio sources like an audio recorder or mixer.

Doesnt this just mean I can connect line in to it for audio?

You can try it, I tried using my GoPro 5 using the mic adaptor and an aux cable to record my radio in the car but it never worked, always played back silent like it wasn't recording.

How would you try it? You mean the GoPro recording from something like Spotify or Apple music?

It'll be off screen gameplay audio and voice recording live.

I think you'd be better with an external sound recorder as the sound captured by the GoPro is basic at best.

I might just use OBS and setup audio scenes, then patch the video and audio together when editing.
