If anyone knows, you guys will.

Off to Fiji in a couple of months for honeymoon. Current camera is still an old 2.1MP job from 5 years ago so looking at getting something new.

Last time I went I was gutted I had nothing I could record all the things I saw while snorkelling. Really is like another world.

Have been looking at the GoPro Hero 3+ black/silver with LCD bacpac and it seems this is suitable for both still shots, anything on the move and anything underwater.

The only off-putting factor is the price as i'd essentially have to spend £70-80 extra for the lcd bacpac and waterproof housing. I understand you can wifi into a device for a live view but it feels like a ballache to do this just to take pics.

Any other cheaper alternatives that I might be missing? I do like that I can just wear a headband when snorkelling to record what I see with the gopro.

Additionally, i've been after an in-car camera for a while and this could serve for that purpose when I get back from the holiday.

I'd replace your current camera with a rigged model like the olympus tg-2 this would then see you sorted for stills and video in and out of the water.

Exactly the reason I posted here, suggestions like this. Already liking the look of this Olympus over the gopro, cheaper as well :D

And much more useable as a stills camera, go pro's are great for filming sports action stuff but as a general use camera they aren't great.

The Panasonic DMC-FT5 is also a good option for a tough/waterproof camera. I bought one last year and was pleased with its usability and results, both in and out of the water.

check out the isaw extreme. Its £220 and comes with wifi and LCD built in as standard. Comparable image quality to the gopro hero 3 black.

Please if you are using any of these action cameras under water check your seal is clean before entering the water. I have lost a hero2 and a isaw extreme because of this :(

Pentax do a nice ruggedised/waterproof camera. Can't remember the model number at moment. We use it when we go to centre parcs, great recording my kids going down the slides
