GoPro or?

Thinking of getting a new action cam, I have a sj4000 which costs peanuts but I'm now looking to upgrade.

Looking at the GoPro HERO4 Black 4K camera, good prices on fleabay for about £260. Is there any better cams or is this as good as it gets?

What do you want to use it for? The 3+ Black is far better for battery life in my experience.

Will be used for mountain biking, climbing and time lapse. The skies are pitch black here so I may try to capture the Milky Way.

I'm in the same boat.. I think ill pick up a Hero 3+ Black. I haven't got a 4K TV, I think the 4 will be pointless for me unless its definitely worth the extra cash.

I've been looking at the Garmin Virb XE myself. Don't need 4K at the moment, its a similar price to the GoPro and includes image stabilisation, plus Garmin's GPS (plus other data) capture which you can overlay over the video.

The downside seems to be poor battery life (like the GoPro), but a lack of external chargers (or indeed at this point in time ability to buy additional batteries).

I pulled the trigger on the Hero 4 Black 4k. £253 inc post, I like the idea of recording at 2.7K at 60 fps, higher frame rates for all other resoltions also. I picked up a multi charger with 2 batteries for £25.
