GoPro4 external microphone and battery recommendations?

Hi all,

I quite enjoy the quality of the video produced by the GoPro4 but am not impressed by the microphone quality, the sound is what I'd describe as tinny? I would also like to have some sort of external battery arrangement.

Has anyone got any personal recommendations for anything that they use or have used?

To be honest, the GoPro cameras that I use are my brother's and they are mostly used inside the car, with some uses externally (wind not a factor).

I'm not after amazing sound quality, but what I do want is a microphone that can pickup the sound of a car properly without going tinny or crackling from loud volumes. I will not be vlogging or talking to the microphone so the position can vary. Likewise with the battery I guess!

My old 1080 cameras had some great mics, could really withstand loud volumes and reproduce them clearly.

I will have to pick up some generic go pro mics and see what they pick up from the inside of the car for comparison as I really do enjoy the quality of these GoPros at 4k.
